Elaine Clancy - A renewed love for golf
A little over a year ago, our PGA Professional, Damon Wood was approached by a new member to The Nottinghamshire, Elaine Clancy who was returning to the game. After posting 3 cards to regain her handicap with scores of 125, 123 & 124 she was given a starting handicap of 36.
During the 2014 playing season Elaine signed up to a few lessons and this teamed with her determination and good practice was able to get down to a handicap 31 by the end of the year.
Feeling a renewed love of the game Elaine booked a programme of lessons ahead of the start of the 2015 season. After sitting down with Damon, Elaine set out new goals for the year and along with Damon's advice, decided on a long term, end of year goal to get her handicap down to a very respectable 24. This was a substantial drop but with Elaine's determination and practice ethics was certainly not out of the question!
The year got off to a positive start and before the 2015 season has even begun Elaine saw her handicap drop to 29 by the handicap committee for her overall play throughout the previous season. Then last weekend, with the course playing as long as it possible and weather conditions being extremely difficult, Elaine not only shot an extremely impressive gross 94 (44 points) winning the competition and getting her handicap cut to 24.4 reaching her end of year goal in the very first competition.
Extremely well done Elaine and congratulations to Damon on his coaching skills!
